How we got here

Before Heath Jackson ever wanted a watch, his father had one. A gold Rolex on a rancher who worked cattle for a living. Nobody explained it. Nobody had to. A small golden machine had crossed a border and landed in the family carrying more meaning than anything else they owned.

Years later, behind glass at La Cantera, a TAG Heuer Formula One with a red dial did the same work. He never went in. He did not have the money. The glass corner never let go.

That is the engine of the house. On the ranch, a watch was trophy, currency, and inheritance. Behind glass, it was a shrine. Neither scene had anything to do with telling time.
